The printed circuit board for both the XXX and XXX (See Technical Layout) is housed within the headphones. Therefore, these headphones are not upgradable. Because of this, we have chosen to include comments concerning the COMFORT and FIT of these units in this section with the other goggles since the headphones are an integral component of the experience and cannot be avoided by upgrading to a superior more comfortable pair.

The XXX uses a pair of XXX that come standard with the XXX and XXX. These were rated #1 by our research test team. However, the headphones were not so popular with some of the research subjects creating discomfort that had not been an issue when using the XXX and a lighter pair of headphones connected to a XXX or XXX.

On a dissimilar note, XXX uses XXX LEDs that are mounted via non-telescoping stems directly to the headphones. In one sense, this is better than the XXX approach for those individuals who had discomfort from the headphones squeezing the XXX between their ears. A big downfall to the design, however, is bilateral protrusions of the plastic housing the headphones directly behind the ears. When laying down, these protrusions push the entire unit up off of your face carrying the LED visor up and out of effective range. With non-telescoping stems, your only solution is to either put your hands behind your head propping your face and eyes into a better position to receive the photons, or putting a pillow at least as narrow as your head underneath it. Of course, you also have the option of using the unit while sitting or standing but this would seem to defeat the relaxation that the machine is being used to induce.

Since the other mind machines use headphones that are independent of the goggles and which can be easily upgraded to a more comfortable or superior sounding pair, they have been evaluated in the Tones Chapter. Look for HEADPHONES at the end.


LED PROTRUSIONS

In addition to general comfort, the structure of all of the LED glasses is such that the LED diodes protrude from the glasses toward the eyeball. This can be extremely distracting. XXX and the glasses with XXX made by XXX use a flat translucent panel to disperse the light and separate the light source from the immediate area. As a result of this panel, there aren't any bulbs or diodes protruding towards your eyes from the visors of these two machines.

Since this can be very troublesome, the data demonstrating the extent of this annoyance for each pair of LED goggles follows directly below. The higher the score, the better: meaning the LED diodes are not protruding far enough to be of great concern. The lower the score, the worse: meaning the diodes are exerting pressure on the eyelids and thus are very uncomfortable becoming a great distraction.
